A handheld radio, an iPhone, and RadioMail. No sound card, no cables, no wiring diagram. Get off-grid email in 30 seconds. [upbeat music] Let's start by adding our radio. Just tap Add Device in RadioMail, and then it will start searching for nearby, uh, devices. And even if it shows in the list, make sure you go to the radio and put it in pairing mode. Once you're done with that, tap on the listing entry, and then it will ask you to confirm the pairing request. Once it's confirmed, now the device shows in the list. It's a one-time operation. You can tap on it and inspect, uh, various settings. In this case, packet parameters. We don't need to really change anything here, so we can go back, and now we're ready to connect. Let's tap the antenna icon to start a session, and here we gotta select our destination station. We can just tap its, uh, call sign and we will, uh, open up the best path prediction by default. Here are all the station you could connect to ranked by score. We'll get into that, into more detail in further video. But here, let's just go to Favorite and we'll select a station I've entered before. This is my test station, W6AZ-10. It's not listed, it's custom, so I can just select it and now we're ready to connect. Now, if you notice, it shows you your radio, the UV-Pro with a little Auto, uh, indicator. That means the radio is capable of CAT control. So when I press Connect, the radio will change frequency to the destination, and then when the session is done, it will restore it. So now the radio is in KiSTNC mode. We're starting the session, connecting to the, um, gateway and checking to see if there is any messages, um, available for us. Proceeding here with the authentication, and it looks like, uh, we don't have anything to send. Um, but there is a message pending for us. So we're retrieving the message here, and you can follow the log in various color to show you which side is sending or receiving. And, um, we're getting the message here very shortly. Received it, and now we're going to finish, uh, the session. So session is done. Restoring the radio in its mode. Now we can dismiss and go into our inbox and look at our message. We get one new message received and, um, we can just open it, read it. It has the unread indicator that will go away. And let's reply and see if we can send a response to KH6NS. Here, we can just compose the message or you can also use, uh, voice dictation if it's easier. Um, much easier than typing. And when we are done, uh, composing, we can just hit the arrow up on the top right corner, and it will open up a menu. And we have two option, we can send now or we can hold for radio. Send now will deliver it to the CMS over the Internet if you have a connection. Hold for radio will put it in the outbox and make sure that will only be sent, uh, next time you have a radio connection. So right now, we did hold for radio. It shows outbox has one item. We can look at it and it shows you a little, um, indicator, um, rad... antenna indicator indicates that it's going to go over radio. So now let's connect again to our station. Same thing, finding the radio, changing the frequency, and now we should propose to the RMS, uh, the message we just, uh, composed. [radio beeps] It's connecting. [radio beeps] Now we're proposing the message here that we just composed, and it's been accepted by the, the gateway. [radio beeps] Now we're sending it, and we'll just wrap up, uh, the connection. [radio beeps] There you go. A handheld radio, an iPhone, RadioMail, and we've been able to send email while off-grid. Mahalo and 73.
